By downloading this software, you are agreeing to be bound by the Software License Agreement - a copy of which may be viewed here.
Your Windows Mobile device must be running OS version 5.0 or greater
From your Windows Mobile Browser
1) Go to http://boopsie.com
2) When accessed from the phone's browser, the above URL will detect your operating
system and offer you the correct download.
3) When prompted, download and install the application for Windows Mobile.
Note: to setup Boopsie to work more efficiently on specific devices , please see the Hot Tips! below.
First Time Use
1) Navigate to the Boopsie icon and launch the application. Or, if you program a Pockte PC button to launch Boopsie (see below), press and hold the programmed button.

2) The first time you run Boopsie, you will be prompted with the Signup agreement. Check the 'I have read this notification' box, then select 'OK' to continue.
The signup agreement just states that you are responsible for your data services bill. Boopsie uses your data plan
to access our search engine and to launch the Browser.

3) You will then see a 'Connecting' progress message.

4) If an error occurs (possibly network coverage or other error), you will see an error message after the 'Connecting' progress dialog.
You should select 'Menu -> Exit' and try to run Boopsie again later.
5) If registration is successful, a default Favorites Channel should then appear. Note: We pre-populate several channels into your
Favorites Channel. You may add or remove items by following the procedures below under Menu Softkey

General Use
1) After your Favorites Channel appears, you may start to use Boopsie
2) The main menu is multi-prefix searchable - just like each channel. You must choose a channel first, then issue a search.
3) For example, to search Wikipedia, type 'w' to the right of the . You'll see the menu narrow down to those
channels with 'w' as a first letter.

4) Arrow down or click on Wikipedia

5) You may now start entering your search term(s). For example, to find 'George C Scott', you might type 'ge c sc'. After each character
you enter, you will see the list narrow down your choices.

6) Select 'George C Scott' and Boopsie will launch an internally hosted Browser window with the appropriate Wikipedia page. Note:You may also configure
Boopsie to launch Pocket IE when you select a destination link. See Settings Menu for details.

Hot Tips!
Pocket PC Phone Edition
Programmable Buttons
Since Boopsie may launch the Pocket IE Browser, you need to navigate back to Boopsie for additional searches.
We like to change the left side soft button on the Palm Treo 700 series devices (or other PPC soft button) to launch Boopsie.
The button will help you navigate more easily when Boopsie is running.
For example, to launch Boopsie with the left soft key on the Treo 700w:
a) Goto the the Home screen and select Settings
b) Select Buttons
c) Under 'Select a button:', scroll down until you see 'Hold Side'

d) Navigate down to Press + Hold Side button
e) Select 2. Assign a program: and choose Boopsie from the list and then select the 'ok' button.
While you are running Boopsie, tapping the selected button key will do 3 different things depending upon
what area of the screen has focus:
1) If the list of items has focus, tapping the selected button key will give the text input area focus
2) If the text input area has focus and there are characters in the input area, tapping the selected button key will
clear the text from the input area
3) If the text area has focus and there are no characters, tapping the selected button key will navigate you to your
Home menu
Navigating back from Pocket IE
You may also navigate back by pressing the stylist on the page and bringing up the context menu. Then,
choose Boopsie Search to go back to Boopsie.

Samsung BlackJack
You may use the side scroll wheel to launch Boopsie - via the Wheel Launcher. Press the wheel in
for about 3 seconds. Then, Choose 'Edit' from the pop-up menu. Then choose the right
softkey labeled 'Menu', then choose 'Add -> Application'. Then navigate to Boopsie and it
will be added to your press-and-hold shortcuts from the Wheel Launcher.

Pocket PC and Smartphone
If you have version 1.0.4.7 or later, you may
navigate directly back to Boopsie from Pocket IE. From Pocket IE, choose
Menu -> Tools -> Boopsie Search.

Up/Back Soft Key
The Up/Back (left) Soft Key works exactly like tapping a programmed button as described in the previous section.
While you are running Boopsie, tapping the Up/Back key will do 3 different things depending upon
what area of the screen has focus:
1) If the list of items has focus, tapping the selected button key will give the text input area focus
2) If the text input area has focus and there are characters in the input area, tapping the selected button key will
clear the text from the input area
3) If the text area has focus and there are no characters, tapping the selected button key will navigate you to your
Home menu
Menu Soft Key
The application menu may be displayed by pressing the Menu Soft Key.

The application menu is context sensitive - meaning it displays different things depending on whether the
focus is in the text entry box or in the list area. For example, if you are on your Favorites Channel and you want
to remove a channel from your favorites, you should arrow down to highlight the channel you want to remove and choose
Menu -> Remove from favorites.
Adding Channels to your Favorites : To add channels to your Favorites channel, choose the All Channels
link from your Favorites Channel and then arrow down to the channel you would like to add and choose Menu -> Add to favorites and the
channel will be added to your Favorites Channel.
Home : Selecting this moves you to your Home page - which you may change by using
Set as home as described below.
All Channels : Goes to the top level Boopsie menu. Note, you may change your
home page to a different menu than the Boopsie top level menu. This selection will
always take you to the main Boopsie top level menu.
Set as Home : Selecting this from any page will make that page your default 'Home' page. So, if you prefer to
have Wikipedia as your 'Home' page, navigate to the Wikipedia channel and select 'Set as home'; your homepage is
then changed to the Wikipedia search page.
Refresh : Refreshes the current page.
Settings : Displays the Settings Dialog as described below.
About/Account : Displays the version and copyright information.
Exit : Exit the application.
Location Aware Channels
Some channels are Location Aware - meaning the data in the channel's listings have a latitude and longitude. Location Aware
channels will display a spyglass with a cross hair in it to identify the channel as location aware.
Standard channels do not have a cross hair in the spyglass icon. An example channel
that is Location Aware is CitySearch Silicon Valley. Asssume we are looking for
the Tied House Cafe and Brewery in Mountain View

Now, when we pres the Menu Soft Key, we get the following menu:

All Location Aware channels have the following available menus:
Download listing : Allows you to download the address and phone number of the listing to your phone's address book.
Search from here : Sets a beginning way point for you to perform a search. Setting the currently
selected list item as the 'Search from here' location will then sort all subsequent searches by distance
from the 'Search from here' location. NOTE: You may choose any location in any location aware channel to set as a search source. So, you
could choose a location in the Starbucks Store Locator channel and then choose a location in the CitySearch Silicon Valley
channel and have the 'Search from here' from Starbucks sort the CitySearch entries.
Directions to here : Provides directions from the 'Search from here' location to the
currently highlighted location.
Clear search center [use GPS as search center] : Eliminates the 'Search from here' search center. If you have an active GPS device
paired with your phone, the 'search center' is now set to and using your current location. If you are using a GPS,
you may choose a Location Aware channel and, as you move around, the items matching the input filter that you
have typed in the text entry box will show up in distance order from your current position. So, if you set
your current channel to the Starbucks Store Locator channel, as you move around, you will see the
Starbucks that are closer to you. If you use this feature on a CitySearch channel, you may type in
a filter like 'rest ital' for 'restaurant italian' and you will see all Italian restaurants near your
current location.
Click to call : Selecting this entry will call the listed business.
Settings Dialog
Enable auto-complete (if avail.) : This works on most devices, but not all (due to
discrepencies in Windows Mobile implementations). We find that turning off auto-complete will allow
Boopsie to find things based on exactly what you type, not what the OS thinks you are typing. You may enable this
if you like the auto-complete the OS provides. This is a rarely used feature.
Network timeout : Default 0 min. - meaning no timeout. When Boopsie is running, it
needs access to the data network. The default timeout to close the network when Boopsie is idle
is 0 min. - which means do not timeout/leave the network available. If this is changed to a positive
value, then the network will stay 'up' at least for the number of minutes you specify here. On EVDO systems,
this has no affect because the network is always active. On GPRS systems, this will have an affect
if GPRS 'always on' is not set. It takes a few seconds to bring the network up, so leaving this value
at 0 will allow the most responsiveness from Boopsie.
Inter-Key timeout : Default 500ms. This is the number of milliseconds to wait
between keystrokes before Boopsie starts to send data. If you are on a high-speed network, then
reducing this number will make Boopsie show you results quicker after each key press. If your network
is slower, then reducing this may cause Boopsie to seem sluggish. Increasing this on a slower
system will allow you to type more characters before Boopsie attempts to retrieve results.
Connect timeout : Default 0 seconds - meaning do not timeout. Boopsie uses a network socket
to communicate to the Boopsie Server. This time determines how long the socket will stay 'open' before
it is closed by Boopsie. This value needs to be smaller than the 'Network timeout' value.
Setting this to 0 will allow the socket to remain open and make Boopsie more responsive.
NOTE: It is recommended that you do not change the 'timeout' values.
Font multiplier : Default 100%. You may adjust the font size by a percentage
of the default font. So, setting the value to 80% will give you smaller text. Setting it to
something like 120% will give you BIG text.
Enable GPS (if avail.) : See the section above on Location Aware Channels. To enable
the GPS paired with your device, click this checkbox. When you are on a Location Aware channel and
you have used 'Clear search center', your position will be determined by your GPS unit. If you see
a red filled box around the spyglass icon with cross hairs, your GPS is not being read correctly
by Boopsie. Try using your 'regular' GPS software to see that the device is still paired with
your phone.

Select the Save soft key to save your changes, or press Menu -> Cancel to cancel
changes. You may select Menu -> Remove account to force your phone to re-establish an
account with the Boopsie Server (this is typically used only by our tech support department).
Network Configuration
None required - you just need to have a data plan.
Typical Errors
If you launch Boopsie and the title bar displays "Boopsie - offline", then Boopsie is unable
to access the data network. Wait a while and try to start Boopsie later - you may be out of network data coverage.
Note that just because your phone displays 'bars', it may not have a data connection available.
